Special Message from Rev. Gwen
Jambo! Jambo! I have arrived. It was an early morning arrival with the skies a soft pink as the dawning of the light of day in Nairobi, Kenya. It is always wonderful to step into the fresh air after a long flight (actually, two long flights).
When traveling, things don’t always go the way we plan! On this trip, life gave me plenty of opportunities to practice being patient and flexible.
As my flights were all changed without prior notice, I had little choice but to trust, move forward, and know that all would be well. Finding myself sleep-deprived and physically exhausted (hauling all the containers of books on and off the London tube), I felt myself beginning to slip into loneliness, struggle, and “poor me.”
Then I said to myself: “Self, what good is this? It’s a waste of time and energy. Right now, come back to this moment and keep moving. Remember what you know is true.” And then, a most amazing thing happened. A young woman approached me. “Are you okay?” she asked. I answered honestly that I really wasn’t. And she answered without hesitation: “I am helping you and we will do this.” And she did! What a blessing to remember that what we need appears exactly when we need it. She was one of many on this trip that stepped in and helped me in ways that made such a difference.
Lameck was at the airport to pick me up and off we went to the Masai Lodge for a recuperating few hours. We had lunch with Edward, the owner, and then I went to my room for a shower and nap. How very peaceful and restorative I felt. It was wonderful to meander around the grounds that were familiar and loved from spending time here in 2020.
Rev. Barb and I had planned to return to Kenya together, but this was not to be, so I’ve been staying in close contact with her, filling her in all my adventures since leaving British Columbia. How grateful I am for the blessing of working with her. Then I was blessed to be welcomed by Lameck and his wife Emily into their home, and to spend a day at the office with Nancy, sorting and organizing books and supplies. Asante! We have a wonderful rich library at the office, and I look forward to distributing more books to Kisimu and Kisi.
What a joy it is for me to be here, sharing the love and joy of being alive, and to be on this path of exploration and spiritual growth with all of you. I look forward to sharing more of my adventures and what I’m learning with you. What a gift it is to be alive!
Stay tuned in and connected.
Peace and Blessings, Rev Gwen
